Photo Year: World Series

You play 10 rounds drawn from a 68-photo archive of the Fall Classic. Read the ballpark, the crowd, the uniforms, and the photographic style, move the year slider, and lock in the year each shot was taken.

An exact year earns 1,000 points. Your score falls gradually for every year you miss by, for a maximum of 10,000 points across the 10 rounds.

The slider runs from 1903, the first modern World Series, to 2025. Games, pregame ceremonies, crowds outside the ballpark, and the champions' victory celebrations are all fair game. Each game draws 10 unique photos at random, and never more than two from any single year.

Start with the camera and the crowd. Glass-plate black and white, straw boaters, and bowler hats point to the early decades, and a grandstand full of fedoras and overcoats lasts into the 1950s. Color film, artificial turf, and bright double-knit uniforms move you into the 1970s and 1980s. Giant video boards, military flyovers, and a phone in every hand mean the modern game. Then narrow it down with the ballpark, the uniforms, and anyone famous in the frame.
