Connections: The W is a free sports connections puzzle: sixteen tiles hiding four secret groups of four. MVPs, UConn stars, original franchises, and four team names that are regular words off the court.

You get 4 mistakes before the board locks, and the trickiest group is always a wordplay trap built to steal a tile you would swear belongs somewhere else. This one is rated Hard, and bird is the first-overall bait.

All sixteen tiles are listed below in alphabetical order, exactly as you will see them on the board. How they group is the whole game, so no hints there.

How to play

  1. Read all sixteen tiles before touching anything; the traps punish fast fingers.
  2. Select four tiles you think share a hidden connection and submit.
  3. A correct four locks the group in; a wrong four burns one of your 4 mistakes.
  4. Solve all four groups to win, then share your recap grid.
